We are committed to helping families and professionals expand their knowledge and understanding of the laws designed to protect the rights of children with special needs.
PARENT TRAINING
The K.E.N. Project provides training programs, workshops and conferences for parents of children with disabilities and professionals who work with children with special needs.
The K.E.N. Project conducts a meeting every month for families of children with any and all types of disabilities. During these meetings, parents are given the opportunity to present the issues that they are currently experiencing. An Advocate and an Attorney respond with suggestions, referrals and ideas for solving the problems. The other parents offer their experiences and what has worked for them. These meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at United Cerebral Palsy's (UCP) offices located at 6430 Independence Avenue, Woodland Hills, CA 91367. For a list of upcoming meetings please check the "Meeting Dates" section of this web site and always check the Calendar for specific information.
The Autism Support group that was meeting on the first Thursday of the month has been combined with the regular K.E.N. Project meetings. Due to budget cuts and restrictions, we are only able to offer one meeting per month at this time. We hope to be able to add aditional meetings at a later time.
The K.E.N. Project also sponsors seminars taught by specialists such as Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists who work with Kids with Exceptional Needs.
